Forum: feature_films Subject: Review issues

Although reviews are arguably amongst the least important aspects of this site, I still put a great deal of weight into the well-formed ones. I myself have written a few reviews of increasing length, perhaps some of the longest in the Feature Films archive. I believe my reviews are of particular value in that they justify the preservation of these films for posterity--the noble goal of this site--and reveal the depths these films contain that viewers might take from the films more than an hour of entertainment.
With that said in my defense, I confess I'm rather loquacious! The point of this post is simply to find out whether, in the opinion of the public and/or curators, it might not be best for me to write my reviews elsewhere and post a link to them in the review box. This is unusual, but as I say, my reviews are long, which may annoy some people.
My post is particularly pertinent, since I intend to soon review Beat the Devil, which is a film of enormous complexity (in my mind), so will demand a review of greater length.
Any comments? If I get no response, I'll probably put the review off-site, though I would like the idea of my lovely reviews being preserved with the movies.
Best wishes to all,
Grimwig

Yes, a well written review of any length is a great help to understanding the nuances of a vintage film. I am 68 years young and have seen many of these pictures (i.e. "The Outlaw") in theaters when they were originally released. I would welcome the reaction of others to these classic films.

I thank all of you who took the time to reply; more thanks yet for your encouraging me! I will do my best, then, to be a reviewer in your service.

Best wishes,
Grimwig

I would say to go ahead and post one of your reviews - you can always edit it down later, if its a problem.
